Keynote. Visible, Counted, Valued: Leveraging the ICM Midwives’ Data Hub to Strengthen Midwifery Practice and Advocacy
May 4 @ 22:00 - 22:50

Speakers:- Daniela Drandić
Facilitator:- Olajumoke Ojeleye
When midwives are visible in data, they have the power to lead change. The Midwives’ Data Hub exists to make that visibility possible. This free, open-access platform developed by the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM) that brings together verified, open-source global data from trusted organisations including WHO and UNFPA, presenting key indicators across countries in an accessible, interactive format. This presentation will demonstrate how midwives at all career stages and levels of technical confidence can use the Hub — whether to support undergraduate research, design service improvement proposals, build advocacy cases, or inform policy engagement. With a global shortage of 1 million midwives, and the potential to save hundreds of thousands of lives per year by 2035 through sustained investment in the profession, the stakes for data-informed midwifery advocacy have never been higher.
