03 Recovering Sacred Birth Space

May 5 @ 00:00 - 00:50

Speaker:- Vivian Tatiana Camacho Hinojosa

Facilitator:- Mutiara Dien Safitri

Abstract:- I come from indigenous communities, we work for our people based on traditional ancestral wisdom. I belong to the QUECHUA nation, we have resisted colonization for over 5 humbred centuries, because of ancestral wisdom alive, indigenous healers and midwives have taken care of our people whit plant, herbal remedies, ceremonied, remembering the sacred birth space for each human being. We do recognize Mother Earth as our first midwife, she calls us to walk on this earth whit love, generosity and care for each others, so we remember we are communities, beyond individualism we have the healing ceremonies and sacred rites passages like birth to remember us that nature is family aswell. Using herbal vapors, vertical position, and tender care whit soft words and songs along birth gives us back to the sense of sacredness of all of us, life is a sacred gift that must be received whit much care and gentle attention. Even in most far away places there are amazing indigenous midfives recogbized by their communities taking care of birth.

Bolivia is the only country in the Americas Region which has a national law 459 of Traditional Ancestral Medicine, which recognizes ancestral healers and midwives from the different 36 indigenas nations inside Bolivia, so we are called Plurinational State of Bolivia.

Inside Bolivian Health System we have the recognition for ancestral midwifery working on today.
