As an online conference, Virtual International Day of the Midwife is one of the few international events that has not changed format or postponed or canceled due to physical distancing restrictions. All you need is access to the internet and you are able to attend any or all of the more than 24 hours of sessions. The VIDM uses webconferencing technology (Big Blue Button) that is mobile friendly and relatively low bandwidth. Instruction on how to access the conference will be available later.

Important Dates:
  • Deadline for Birth During the Pandemic photo submissions: 15 April
  • VIDM 2021: 04-05 May

Extension for “Birth During the Pandemic” photos – NOW 15 April!

We are still looking for photos to add to our conference celebratory slide show to say ‘Thank You’ to all involved in birthing throughout the pandemic. The deadline is extended to 15 April at noon UTC.

What has been your experience of “Birth During the Pandemic“?

The VIDM Committee would like to celebrate all those who have worked or given birth during this pandemic. It has been a tough time, so let’s take a moment to say thank you to those doctors, midwives, and student midwives that continue to care during the COVID-19 pandemic. We want to recognize those who continue to train new midwives in this difficult time, and to especially acknowledge those people who have had their pregnancies and births in these challenging times.
