The world needs more midwives! Our students are the greatest resource of the profession of midwifery. They bring myriad backgrounds and a passion for caring for birthing people, newborns and families to their midwifery education. They also challenge midwifery educators and clinicians to really look at the way we practice, and encourage change consistent with the current research.
The VIDM Organizing Committee invites midwifery educators (both academic and clinical preceptors) to share your innovations in midwifery education. What challenges do you face and how have you met them? How do you obtain sufficient clinical experiences? Is clinical simulation included in your curriculum? Do you offer didactic coursework online and is that acceptable to students? The student point of view is welcome as well. Is your education affordable and acceptable? The sustainability of the midwifery profession relies on our midwifery education programs to graduate safe and competent beginning practitioners.
Please share your experiences with the international community of midwives, students and other birth workers by submitting an EOI for a presentation or poster to #VIDM24!
