
Zalfa is a registered midwife and research professional dedicated to advancing maternal and community health through evidence-based approaches. She currently serves as a Research and Program Officer at JAKRAD (Jawa Timur–Kalimantan Timur–Adelaide University Research and Development), a collaborative initiative between Indonesia and Adelaide University. In this role, she contributes to the design and implementation of impactful health research across six districts in Kalimantan Timur and Jawa Timur, focusing on improving maternal health outcomes and strengthening healthcare systems.
Her research interests include maternal health, childbirth experiences, and health system improvement. Zalfa is a key contributor to the Birth Experience Study (BESt), which explores women’s experiences during childbirth to generate insights that support respectful, safe, and patient-centered maternity care.
Through her involvement in international research collaborations, Zalfa has developed strong skills in research coordination, data management, and stakeholder engagement. She works closely with multidisciplinary teams, including clinicians, academics, and policymakers, to ensure research findings translate into meaningful practice and policy improvements.
