Associate Professor Terri Downer is the Discipline lead for Midwifery at the University of the Sunshine Coast. Terri’s international career has spanned over 30 years during which time she has specialised in midwifery, neonatal intensive care, IVF, community and emergency nursing, with the last 15 years focusing on education.

Through the scholarship of teaching and learning Terri has led projects introducing students to ePortfolios, 3D technology and video assessment. She has extensive experience in curriculum design and implementation, using blended learning technologies involving simulation. Terri has a keen interest in new and emerging digital technologies including 3D visualisation and virtual reality. She is currently leading an international project researching a 3D simulation depicting the birth of the placenta. In 2019 Terri became a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA) in recognition of her outstanding work in higher education.
