
Associate Professor Terri Downer is the Discipline leader of midwifery in the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedicine at the University of the Sunshine Coast. Terri’s international career has spanned over 30 years during which time she has specialised in midwifery, neonatal intensive care, IVF, community and emergency nursing, gaining recognition through publications, grants and conference presentations.
In 2019 Terri became a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA). This international esteem indicator marks the validation of ‘proven, sustained track record in higher education teaching and management’ (HEA, 2020). Terri has extensive experience in designing and delivering online and face-to-face education. This has included the development of blended learning resources such as videos, the use of 3D technology, the innovative use of QR codes and support material to enhance student learning.
