Shona Shinwell has been a practising midwife for 8 years and currently works in Dundee Scotland for NHS Tayside supporting and caring for women on the postnatal ward. During her training, Shona developed a passionate interest for research and since qualifying has always balanced working as a midwife alongside working on several research projects. Currently, Shona is seconded to the University of Dundee, Mother and Infant Research Unit as a Clinical Academic Fellow. Shona feels both roles complement and inform each other, and she highly values the importance of research in developing midwifery practice and care for women and their families. Shona’s long-term goals are to continue to develop her research experience and complete a PhD.
