Shompa Shohid Toku is one of the passionate pioneer Midwives in Bangladesh with 5 years working experience in the Rohingya humanitarian context, Cox Bazar. She is currently serving as National Midwife coordinator with Research, Training and Management International (RTMI), an implementing partner for UNFPA, taking managerial and leadership roles in service delivery, mentorship and capacity building to ensure competent and confident Midwives.

She is a registered Midwife with a BSc. and diploma in Midwifery who has served the Rohingya response since 2021.  She started her career as a trainer at Dynamic Nursing college in Dhaka and has extensive experience in clinical instruction and teaching.

Shompa is dedicated to advance midwifery in Bangladesh, she is motivated by the evidence and experience that her individual contribution through bedside teaching has contributed to the reduction of maternal and neonatal deaths in Rohingya setting since 2021, helping midwives improve their skills and enhance maternal and newborn care.

She is a committed member of the Bangladesh Midwifery Society and actively participates in annual general meetings (AGMs), training, and professional initiatives to support midwifery development nationwide. She has contributed to the implementation of  the pillars to fulfill the Midwifery acceleration requirements for Bangladesh as a Champion Country for Midwifery development.
