
Dr. Seda Serhatlıoglu is a midwife, researcher, and academic dedicated to improving maternal and newborn health. She graduated as the top student from Marmara University’s Midwifery Department in 2011 and began her career as a midwife in community healthcare in Antalya, Türkiye.
Her passion for evidence-based practice led her to academia, where she completed her MSc at Karabük University, focusing on maternal satisfaction in childbirth. She earned her PhD from Istanbul-Cerrahpaşa University with a randomized controlled trial on the effectiveness of beeswax-based barriers in preventing nipple trauma during breastfeeding.
In 2021, she joined the University of Copenhagen as a postdoctoral researcher at the Interdisciplinary Research Unit of Women’s, Children’s, and Families’ Health. She later returned to Türkiye and became an Assistant Professor at Antalya Bilim University, where she teaches and conducts research.
Dr. Serhatlıoglu’s research interests include birth satisfaction, breastfeeding, postpartum mental health, and psychological well-being in women. She actively contributes to midwifery education and clinical practice while being a member of the Turkish Midwives Association and the Temas Breastfeeding and Human Milk Volunteers Association.
She is committed to advocating for respectful maternity care, integrating research into practice, and enhancing midwifery-led models of care.
