Raissa Manika Purwaningtias is an Indonesian registered midwife with professional experience in health research, clinical settings, and non-profit organizations. She is passionate and skilled in perinatal mental health (PMH), midwifery education, healthcare policy, and health inequalities.
In September 2023, Raissa completed her postgraduate degree in Global Health at the University of Glasgow. Her commitment to perinatal mental health fuelled an exceptional final project during her studies. This project, investigating midwives’ roles in PMH services in Indonesia, underscores her dedication to raising awareness and support for PMH initiatives.
Currently, she serves as a Science Officer at the Summit Institute for Development (SID), an Indonesian non-governmental organization dedicated to improving maternal and child health and health system function. In this capacity, Raissa collaborates with local and national governments to co-create innovative health programs and shape policies. Additionally, she contributes to Ruang Bidan Indonesia (RBI), a midwifery community dedicated to enhancing midwifery education in Indonesia.
Four months ago, Raissa, along with three midwife colleagues, established Sekolah Perinatal Indonesia (SEPIA), a private company aimed at supporting mothers and their well-being throughout the perinatal period. SEPIA offers evidence-based workshops covering various topics to educate and support women and families in Indonesia, fostering a nurturing environment throughout their perinatal journey.
