
Rachael Ame Maima is a registered midwife with over a decade of clinical experience in maternal and child health across major hospitals in Papua New Guinea (PNG). She currently serves as the Ward Manager at Taurama Military Hospital of the PNG Defence Force (PNGDF) in Port Moresby. Rachael holds an Executive MBA from Fiji National University, reflecting her commitment to clinical excellence and leadership in healthcare. She has a passion for maternal and infant health despite the challenges faced in the healthcare system in PNG. In addition, Rachael was a PNG Midwifery Buddy in a collaborative project with Linda Deys over the past year. Their work focused on improving antenatal care, including securing HemoCue devices for the PNGDF antenatal clinic through support from the Australian Defence Force (ADF) in Port Moresby. Rachael remains dedicated to advancing midwifery practice, supporting women and babies, and strengthening maternal health services in PNG.
