Nicola Savory qualified as a registered general nurse in 1986. In 1988 Nicola qualified as a midwife and since then she has worked in a large maternity unit in South Wales, UK. Over the last seven years, alongside her clinical duties, Nicola has worked as a research midwife coordinating several studies within the unit.
Three years ago, Nicola was awarded a fellowship to undertake a full time PhD at Cardiff University. The study aimed to understand the experiences of women with mild to moderate mental health problems in pregnancy and the experiences of midwives who support them.
Nicola has continued to work clinically alongside her studies. Her clinical and research interests include antenatal care of pregnant women, induction and early labour, women’s and midwives’ experiences, relationships between women and midwives, service provision and perinatal mental health.
