
Nabila Hossain Purno is a public health professional specializing in SRHR and epidemiology. She finished her undergraduate degree in Global health and Cell and Molecular Biology, and her Master of Public Health (Epidemiology) from the university of Toronto. Following this, she worked briefly with the Public Health Agency of Canada, interned at the World Health Organization HQ in the non-communicable diseases’ unit, UNDP Bangladesh and then joined the UNFPA Bangladesh office in 2017. In this role, she has worked with the UNFPA team in establishment of midwifery programs in rural Bangladesh health facilities providing a range of SRHR services. She also supported SRHR service delivery for the Rohingya population in camps following the 2017 protracted crisis. She has led the establishment of cervical cancer screening, pre-cancer treatment centres in over 150 health facilities. During COVID-19, Nabila worked as a member of the UN interagency team for COVID-19 response and managed several COVID-19 response projects including community based syndromic surveillance mechanisms, establishing triage for pregnant women with COVID-19 in hospitals, IPC guidelines, etc. More recently, Nabila also leads the climate change and SRHR portfolio where she is designing and implementing several climate changes and SRHR interventions for healthcare providers as well as communities.
