Marina Vaccaro is a registered midwife, counsellor and psychotherapist, lecturer and mum of three with lived experience as a migrant working in Australia and New Zealand. Teaching at Curtin University in Western Australia, she guides emerging midwives to focus on the importance of mental health, accessibility and equity in maternal care. Marina also works at the Perth Pregnancy Centre as an endorsed midwife and counsellor who provides prenatal and postnatal support with a focus on mental health and wellbeing.

She is currently working on her PHD, which looks at the impact of leadership styles on senses of belonging, inclusion and retention on CALD Midwives in Australia. Using her own lived experience, Marina works to amplify the importance of intersectionality and collaboration to ensure that both midwives and mothers are respected and cared for at all levels, including through cultural differences and mental health impacts.
