
Mardiya Adamu is a highly committed and compassionate midwife with over 10 years of continuous service in maternity care. A 2015 graduate of the Department of Nursing, Ahmadu Bello University, she is a Registered Nurse, Registered Midwife, and Registered Public Health Nurse with a strong foundation in clinical excellence and public health advocacy.
she holds a Master of Science in Nursing, where her research focused on “The Prevalence, Predictors, and Adverse Effects of Intimate Partner Violence Among Pregnant Women Attending Antenatal Clinics in Zaria Metropolis.” Her work highlights the urgent need to address gender-based violence as a critical component of maternal healthcare.
In addition to her clinical practice, she is currently engaged in research assessing midwife’ knowledge and attitudes towards the midwife-patient relationship reflecting this year theme. The study will highlight the crucial role of empathy, communication, and trust in strengthening midwife patient bonds, core connections that improve health outcomes and patient satisfaction.
Mardiya believes that meaningful connections are at the heart of effective midwifery care, through her clinical work and research, she continues to advocate for women’s health, respectful maternity care, and evidence-informed practice. She is honored to contribute to the global dialogue on maternal health at the Virtual International Day of the Midwife 2025.
