
Dr Keeth Mayakaduwage is a doctor, researcher, and advocate dedicated to advancing women’s health through clinical care, research, and education. He is a resident in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Unit at Monash Health, Australia, and an adjunct lecturer in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Monash University.
Dr Mayakaduwage’s passion for stillbirth prevention, perinatal bereavement education, and equitable maternity care has led to extensive research collaborations with Safer Care Victoria, the Stillbirth Centre of Research Excellence, and the International Stillbirth Alliance. His research on the Safer Baby Bundle evaluates how evidence-based interventions can reduce stillbirth rates across diverse populations in Australia. He also contributes to the CHOPAN project, investigating the impacts of COVID-19 in pregnancy, and is involved in pre-conception health research, emphasising its role in improving perinatal outcomes. Dr Mayakaduwage leads the INSIGHT Study, an international study on perinatal bereavement education, aiming to improve healthcare providers’ preparedness in supporting bereaved parents. His contributions have been recognised with prestigious awards, including the Australian Medical Association Women’s Health Award and the Ritchie Centre Award for Translational Research from the Perinatal Society of Australia and New Zealand.
Beyond research, Dr Mayakaduwage is a strong advocate for junior doctors’ education and wellbeing. He holds various committee positions in the Australian Medical Association and the Public Health Association of Australia. Passionate about interdisciplinary collaboration, he works to foster stronger partnerships in maternity care and perinatal health to drive meaningful improvements in outcomes worldwide.
