Katherine Booan Hartzog “Katie” is a student nurse-midwife and student women’s health nurse practitioner in the Masters of Science program at Georgetown University, USA. She has been working with the clinical care team and inpatient care team at Carilion Clinics and Roanoke Hospital in Roanoke Virginia, starting in January of 2025. She brings with her diligent classroom preparation, clinical skills training, and is working to integrate her knowledge and refine her skills in the clinical setting. She anticipates graduation in May 2025.

She believes in a person-centered care model incorporating inclusivity which considers all aspects of a person’s health; physical, mental, and social. She aims to create safe environments where shared decision-making is a priority, and patients are empowered to be active participants in their healthcare. She brings with her a wide variety of clinical and observational skills she acquired from her eight years as a nurse in a variety of different fields. She finds this well-rounded experience to be helpful in her new role in midwifery and women’s health! She is certified in life saving skills for newborns and adults and in Nexplanon insertion.

Katie holds a BSN in nursing and a minor in women and gender studies from the State University of New York, Brockport. She recently gave birth to her first child.  When she is not in clinical, she can be found spending time with her baby, husband, and dog, Rocky.
