Janelle Komorowski began her midwifery career as an apprentice in California during a time when helping a woman birth at home was illegal. After 10 years of direct-entry practice, she returned to school to earn her master’s degree in midwifery. She worked in Alaska with Indian Health Services for 13 years, and now teaches in the DNP program at Frontier Nursing University.
