
Dr. Ginger Breedlove, PhD, CNM, FACNM, FAAN is a past president of the ACNM (2013-2016) and has led many U.S. initiatives to improve perinatal health over 45 years. She co-founded the first licensed, free-standing birthing center in Topeka, Kansas in 1979; the first hospital-based midwifery service in Kansas City, Missouri in 1994; and in 1999 established and directed the University of Kansas graduate Nurse-Midwife program for ten years. She is widely published in numerous journals and publication, a prominent national speaker, and Principal Investigator for over $5 million dollars in research funds. In 2017, she co-founded March for Moms with Dr. Neel Shah serving as founding President for five years. In 2017, she founded the national U.S. consulting firm Grow Midwives LLC to scale and sustain midwifery. Services include assisting pre-accreditation of midwifery education programs, assist in start-up of practices with individual midwives as well as large health systems, facilitates complex conversations in practice settings and state initiatives, and aware of challenges in the U.S. midwife workforce by reviewing and advising over 5,000 employment contracts. In 2018, Dr. Breedlove edited and launched a best-selling book for new parents titled, Nobody Told Me About That! with the 2nd Edition published in 2023. Dr. Breedlove served as founding chair of The Doctors Company’s Advanced Practice Clinician Advisory Board and continues as a member. Dr. Breedlove completed the Harvard School of Business Negotiation Mastery certificate program in 2023.
