Gemma is Scottish by birth, qualifying as a midwife from the University of the West of Scotland in 2008. Gemma worked as a midwife in Scotland and Ireland until she moved to Australia in 2012. Gemma lives in Townsville, north Queensland, with her husband and three small children. She is a clinical midwife and Project Officer for the Townsville Hospital Health Service and is currently project lead for the Ingham Birth Project. Gemma feels passionately about her role as advocate for women in all women’s health matters and in educating society on the benefits of continuity and case load models of care within midwifery.
