This is Farida Begum. I am working at UNFPA since 2014 in the capacity of Programme Officer,  Programme Anayst and Consultant respectively dealing with the establishment and strengthening of midwifery education and services in Bangladesh.  I worked 20 years at the Government health sector under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in different capacities  and worked at WHO 10 years as a national consultant for Midwifery and Nursing. I obtained degrees on General Nursing and Midwifery, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Master’s in International Health and PhD in Health Science.

My great achievement is to introduce midwifery as a distinct professional body for maternal and newborn health including development of relevant policies and guidelines on regulation, education, deployment and utilization, services management and advocacy. My goal and aspiration are to ensure Respectful Midwifery Led Continuum of Care to save the life’s of mother and newborn throughout the country.
