Closing ceremony

May 5 @ 22:30 - 23:30

We are delighted to close #VIDM26 with a video produced by the Gulapi Apa, pink sisters, the midwives of Bangladesh. This song was written by Jhumu during the COVID-19 pandemic when we had to celebrate the International Day of the Midwife online. Jhumu wanted to create something that reflected who midwives are and what they do, so that people could easily understand.

As social media is a very popular platform, Jhumu sang the song on Facebook. Midwives, nurses and teachers immediately loved it and started using it in videos, reels and more.

Last year the song was recorded by a professional singer. The dance and video was performed by students of the BSc in Midwifery programme at Mohalhali College of Nursing, in Dhaka, in 2025.

Jhumu believes this song is an asset and an advocacy tool that truly represents midwives – not only in Bangladesh but worldwide. She feels happy whenever the song is played.

This will be followed by our selfie slide show. If you wish to be included in this, please send your selfie whilst attending the conference to info@vidm.org.
