
Elizabeth Yip RN, RM, IBCLC, Post graduate certificate in Women’s Health, certificates in Paediatrics and Mothercraft. Cert 4 in Breastfeeding Education (Australian Breastfeeding Association counsellor) Story Collector for “Spilt Milk Honest Breastfeeding Stories”. She is co-author of 3 published papers in breastfeeding topics and has done oral and poster presentations at national conferences. Elizabeth has worked in NSW Health since 1976. She retired from clinical work in August 2023. She continues her research projects on “Breastfeeding in the operating theatre after lower segment caesarean section: Is it possible?” and “Pathology of nipple and areola in lactating women with ongoing pain – Which microorganisms play a role? (A retrospective analysis of previous clinical care)”
She has worked in Midwifery since 1981. She has worked across all midwifery areas including NICU. She continued part time work in midwifery while caring for her children and did some Child and Family Health nursing. She has had a lifelong passion to support lactation which started during her childhood from listening to her mother, her family, and her mother’s friends’ stories. She has been a lifelong believer in women/ person centred care and often wondered why we continue to do things that are not working for us and those we care for.
Elizabeth has realised in the last few years that although ADHD, Dyslexia, Aphantasia and chronic fatigue syndrome since 2006 can impact her life they also positively contribute to her questioning, unusual and positive outlook on the world and allowed her to achieve her goals.
