
Dr. Mariama Massaquoi-Gartman is a physician who is double board certified in family medicine and family medicine with surgical obstetrical skills. She also completed a fellowship in family medicine obstetrics and earned her Masters in Public Health with certificates in Global Health and Health Finance and Management from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Dr. Massaquoi-Gartmann has been involved in global health for over 13yrs with a primary focus on maternal health in Sierra Leone, and she is the co-founder of Tenki for Born. Tenki’s healthcare work primarily focuses on increasing the capacity, confidence and quality of care provided by midwives in Sierra Leone. One of their key projects is to teach midwives how to screen for high-risk OB conditions using focused OB ultrasound, so that they can preventatively refer them to a higher level of care prior to delivery. Dr. Massaquoi-Gartmann is an active duty physician in the US Army and currently based in the National Capital Region. She proudly serves her country and passionately continues to give back to the country that raised her mother.
