Commencing her midwifery career over 25 years ago, Dr Anna Byrom has worked across UK maternity services, education, and research. With a passion for relational, humanised, and rights-based midwifery, she has practiced as a caseload, team, and birth centre midwife, and led infant feeding services in both community and hospital settings. In 2019, she completed her PhD with the Maternal and Infant Nutrition and Nurture Unit (MAINN), University of Lancashire, exploring the impact of the UNICEF UK Baby Friendly Initiative (BFI) on midwives and families. Anna Byrom has led multidisciplinary maternity and perinatal care modules at the University of Central Lancashire, supporting paramedic practice development through teaching on Ambulance Clinician courses, leading CPD education events, and co-creating digital learning resources in collaboration with North West Ambulance Service to strengthen compassionate, collaborative emergency care. Anna’s contribution to Higher Education were recognised with a National Teaching Fellowship from Advance HE in 2019. As CEO and co-founding director of All4Maternity.com, she publishes The Practising Midwife (UK and Australia editions) and The Student Midwife, and leads innovative global education, research, and consultancy programmes in maternity and perinatal care.
