Irene González Pérez

Ms. Irene González Pérez (RN, PGDip in Midwifery, PhD student) is a PhD Student in Health Sciences and a member of the IENFERCAN research group (University of La Laguna, Tenerife, Spain). She is a qualified Midwife (City, University of London, UK) and has experience in the United Kingdom, India and Spain, expanding her career and developing her teaching and research skills. She did an internship at City University of London as part of her PhD, collaborating with The Centre of Maternal and Child Health Research (City, University of London, UK). During this period, she organized research events and participated as a lecturer and researcher in different projects, such as The Birth Place Action Study (National Institute for Health Research) and the Translation of the Midwifery Unit Standards into Spanish (Midwifery Unit Network). She also volunteered as a midwife at Fernandez Hospital (Hyderabad, India) teaching and supporting the midwives. Her current research focuses on women’s birth plans, autonomy and maternal birth experience.
