Dr Gloria Esegbona is a Consultant Obstetrician-Gynaecologist, Physiologist, and Educator, born in London and qualified from St Bartholomew’s Hospital and the Royal London Medical School. However, she has 15 years + of global specialist expertise in the prevention management of birth trauma. Having trained as an fistula surgeon, set up critical obstetric services across several African countries. And trained and birthed thousands of mothers and clinicians in the UK, Africa & beyond. This has led her to discover that the physiology of the mother’s body is poorly researched and taught, leading to the potential for inappropriate dehumanizing interventions and preventable trauma.

A Human Rights in Childbirth ambassador, she has combined her growing knowledge into an art of birth project. A collection of visual training resources, that help birth workers master physiology, through a better understanding of the concept of pressure,. So that they create woman-centered physiological practices that reduce inappropriate interventions and trauma.
